Subscription
Guardian Pro is available in three subscription tiers, each designed to support different organisation sizes and governance requirements. Your subscription determines the features available to you, the number of AWS accounts you can monitor, and the usage limits for AI-powered capabilities.
Accessing Subscription Settings
Navigate to Settings > Subscription from the left sidebar. You need the org:read permission to view your subscription details.
Subscription Tiers
Starter
The Starter tier is designed for small teams and individual AWS accounts. It provides core governance capabilities with sensible limits.
Best for:
- Small startups with a single AWS account.
- Individual practitioners exploring cloud governance.
- Teams evaluating Guardian Pro before committing to a higher tier.
Business
The Business tier is designed for growing organisations that need multi-account governance, advanced analytics, and higher usage limits.
Best for:
- Organisations with multiple AWS accounts.
- Teams that need compliance reporting across multiple frameworks.
- Engineering groups that rely heavily on the AI Assistant for operational guidance.
Enterprise
The Enterprise tier is designed for large organisations with extensive AWS estates and advanced governance requirements.
Best for:
- Large enterprises with many AWS accounts and complex organisational structures.
- Organisations with strict compliance requirements and audit needs.
- Teams that need unlimited access to all Guardian Pro capabilities.
Feature Comparison

| Compliance Frameworks | 1 framework | All 4 frameworks | All 4 frameworks + custom mappings |
| Architecture Advisor | Risk Radar + Health Score | Full suite (including failure simulation) | Full suite + priority support |
| AI Assistant | Standard daily limit | Extended daily limit | Maximum daily limit |

| Audit Logs | 30 days | 90 days | 1 year |
| Support | Documentation | Email support | Priority support + dedicated onboarding |
All tiers include the same security scanning engine with the same checks and detection capabilities. The difference is in the breadth of supporting features, not the depth of security analysis.
AI Assistant Usage
The AI Assistant has a daily token budget that varies by tier. This budget determines how many conversations and queries you can run per day:
| Tier | Daily AI Budget | Typical Usage |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | Standard allocation | Approximately 20-30 conversations per day |
| Business | Extended allocation | Approximately 100-150 conversations per day |
| Enterprise | Maximum allocation | Approximately 500+ conversations per day |
The AI budget resets daily at midnight UTC. Unused budget does not roll over. If you consistently reach your limit, consider upgrading to a higher tier.
Viewing Your Current Subscription
The Subscription page shows:
- Current tier -- Your active subscription level.
- Subscription start date -- When your subscription began.
- Billing cycle -- Monthly or annual billing period.
- Usage summary -- Current usage against your tier limits (accounts, users, AI conversations).
- AWS Marketplace link -- Direct link to manage your subscription through AWS Marketplace.
Usage Indicators
The Subscription page displays progress bars for key limits:
- Accounts -- How many of your account slots are in use.
- Users -- How many of your user slots are in use (including pending invitations).
- AI Assistant -- Today's AI usage against your daily budget.
When you approach a limit (80% or above), Guardian Pro displays a warning. When you reach a limit, the affected feature is restricted until the limit resets or you upgrade.
Upgrading Your Subscription
To upgrade your subscription:
- Navigate to Settings > Subscription.
- Click Manage Subscription.
- You will be redirected to the AWS Marketplace to modify your subscription.
- Select your new tier and confirm the change.
Upgrades take effect immediately. You gain instant access to the new tier's features and limits.
Upgrades are prorated -- you only pay the difference for the remainder of your current billing cycle. There is no penalty or overlap charge.
Downgrading Your Subscription
Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing cycle. You retain access to your current tier's features until then.
Before downgrading, review the Feature Comparison to understand which capabilities you will lose. If you are currently using features or exceeding limits that the lower tier does not support, Guardian Pro will prompt you to resolve these before the downgrade takes effect. For example:
- If you have more accounts connected than the lower tier allows, you will need to disconnect some accounts.
- If you have more users than the lower tier allows, you will need to remove some users.
- If you are subscribed to more compliance frameworks than the lower tier supports, you will need to unsubscribe from some.
Downgrading does not delete your data. Historical scan results, findings, and remediation records are retained. However, some features may become view-only or unavailable until you upgrade again.
Billing
Guardian Pro billing is managed entirely through AWS Marketplace:
- Billing method -- Charges appear on your AWS bill alongside your other AWS services.
- Billing cycle -- Monthly or annual, depending on your Marketplace subscription.
- Invoices -- Available through the AWS Billing Console.
- Payment -- Uses your existing AWS payment method.
For billing questions or disputes, contact Support or manage your subscription directly through AWS Marketplace.
