Settings Overview

The Settings area is where you configure Guardian Pro to match your organisation's requirements. From managing users and permissions to selecting compliance frameworks and configuring notification channels, every aspect of your Guardian Pro experience can be tailored from this central hub.

Settings are organisation-wide -- changes made here affect all users and accounts within your Guardian Pro organisation unless otherwise noted.

Accessing Settings

Click the Settings icon in the left-hand navigation bar, or navigate to Settings from the user menu in the top-right corner of the console. Access to specific settings pages is controlled by your role and permissions.

note

Only users with appropriate permissions can view and modify settings. Read-only users can view most settings but cannot make changes. See Roles and Permissions for details.

Common Configuration Workflow

When setting up Guardian Pro for the first time, we recommend configuring settings in this order:

  1. Organisation details -- Confirm your organisation name and contact information.
  2. Subscription review -- Verify your subscription tier and understand your feature limits.
  3. Compliance frameworks -- Subscribe to the frameworks relevant to your industry and regulatory requirements.
  4. Scan preferences -- Configure which regions and services to scan, and set your preferred scan frequency.
  5. Role mappings -- Map your existing AWS IAM roles to Guardian Pro permission levels for seamless access control.
  6. User invitations -- Invite your team members and assign appropriate roles.
  7. Notifications -- Set up alert channels so your team is notified about critical findings and cost anomalies.
tip

You do not need to configure everything at once. Guardian Pro works with sensible defaults out of the box. You can refine your settings as you become more familiar with the platform.

Settings and Multi-Account Environments

Most settings apply at the organisation level and affect all connected AWS accounts. A few settings -- such as scan preferences and notification routing -- can be configured per account when needed.

When you switch accounts using the account selector in the navigation bar, settings pages continue to show organisation-level configuration. Account-specific overrides are clearly labelled where available.

Audit Trail

All settings changes are logged and can be reviewed for audit purposes. When a setting is modified, Guardian Pro records:

  • Who made the change (user identity)
  • When the change was made (timestamp)
  • What was changed (previous and new values)

This audit trail supports your compliance reporting and change management processes.

info

Settings audit logs are available on the Business and Enterprise subscription tiers. See Subscription for tier comparisons.

Permission Requirements

Each settings page has specific permission requirements. If you cannot access a settings page or see a particular option, check with your organisation's Admin user to verify your role assignment.

For a complete breakdown of what each role can access, see Roles and Permissions.

Next Steps

  • Organisation -- Start by reviewing your organisation details.
